A significant train incident unfolded at Kalajharia railway station in Jamtara, Jharkhand, resulting in a distressing loss of life. Reports indicate that a train tragically ran over passengers on Wednesday evening, with the exact number of casualties yet to be confirmed, as per news agency ANI. Immediate response teams, including medical personnel and ambulances, have been mobilized to the scene under the guidance of the Jamtara Deputy Commissioner.
Rescue efforts are currently in progress, with Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari expressing deep concern upon learning of the accident and confirming plans to travel to the site. "I have instructed the authorities to swiftly identify those accountable. This matter will also be brought before the Assembly... The identities of the deceased are yet to be established," stated the MLA.
Contradictory reports suggest that passengers may have leapt onto the tracks after their train caught fire, resulting in a tragic collision with another oncoming train. However, Eastern Railway CPRO has refuted claims of a fire, asserting that two individuals who were not passengers, but pedestrians on the tracks, were unfortunately struck by the train. A committee comprising three members has been established to conduct a thorough investigation into this heart-wrenching incident.
